Statement from Trust Women Founder and Director, Julie Burkhart, on Gov. Brownback’s decision to sign into law a 69 page bill designed to roll back women’s rights – without bothering to actually read it.

Once again, Governor Sam Brownback has overreached into women’s private and personal lives. We are appalled that the Governor would agree to sign such a sweeping bill solely to restrict women’s access to health care. This legislation gives medical professionals permission to withhold information from patients, as well as to provide information that is not scientifically factual. Women and families of Kansas, in this time of economic downturn, need a governor who will work in the best interest of all Kansans – instead of working to deny women the health care they deserve.
