“If State Rep. Lance Kinzer truly wanted to advance the lives of pregnant women in Kansas, he would stand behind legislation that supports quality, accessible public education for our children and would honor the decisions that families make, such as medical decisions,” said Julie Burkhart, Founder and Executive Director of Trust Women. “HB 2035 does nothing but create more barriers and burdens for women and families, and provides no real solution to the problems that Rep. Kinzer claims to be solving.”
At this time, no physician in Kansas provides abortion care at 22 weeks and later in pregnancy. Though the full text of Rep. Kinzer’s bill is not yet available, it is clear that HB 2035 is redundant and unnecessary.
“Rep. Kinzer’s agenda is extremist and stands in strict opposition to pregnant women’s rights,” said Burkhart. “This is pure political grandstanding. Kansans do not want legislators’ time spent tediously debating moot and duplicative legislation.”
“HB 2035 does nothing to help Kansas women and families,” continued Burkhart.
